The Process

1. NO COST CONSULTATION

It’s easy to take the first step and request a consultation. There is no obligation and Solar150 will access a satellite view of your home and property, ask you all the necessary questions, and discuss whether or not you and your home are a good fit for solar.

2. PROJECT DESIGN

If we determine that you and your home are a good fit for solar and you wish to move forward, we will design your system according to your energy needs, equipment choices, and budget constraints.

3. EQUIPMENT, INSTALLATION, AND FINANCE MATCHING

You have choices when it comes to going solar and Solar150 will guide you through choosing the best equipment for your project. From there, you’ll be matched with the best solar installation team – namely, one of our teams that is local to your area and works with the equipment that you chose. If you have decided to finance your solar project, we’ll help finalize the optimal financing scenario according to your unique needs.

4. PROPOSAL AND CONTRACT

At this stage, Solar150 will send a complete project proposal for your review and approval, which includes all cost and warranty information. We encourage you to take your time. Purchasing a solar energy system is a big decision only you can make. In fact, we believe you’ll find that Solar150 has a “no pressure” policy.

If you would like to make changes or additions - now is the best time to request them. Once all the details are finalized to your liking, simply sign the contract electronically and the installation process will begin.

5. SITE SURVEY AND ANALYSIS

After the contract is signed, a representative from your solar installation team will schedule a visit to inspect your home, roof, surrounding property, attic access (for inside home conduits), and your electric panels. This site survey helps ensure the accuracy of the final design for your system.

6. ENGINEERING AND PERMITTING

Once the site survey is received, complete engineering plans and specs for your project will be ordered and received in one week or less. We will send the plans to you for your approval and with your permission, the permitting process will begin. This is one of the longer phases of your installation schedule and could take up to 30 days for permit approval. Once approved, you will be contacted to schedule the installation.

7. INSTALLATION

The day you have been waiting for has arrived! If a new roof was required or recommended, that work will be performed first. Generally speaking, the roof (when needed) is completed within 3-5 days of permit approval and then solar installation is scheduled 3-5 days after the final roof inspection. Roof installations and solar installations each take an average of 2-4 days to complete, depending on the size of your roof and scope of work contracted.

8. STATE INSPECTION

As soon as all installation work is completed, a final inspection by the state or local jurisdiction will be requested. This inspection generally occurs within 1 to 2 weeks of the request, however, times vary depending on local jurisdictional factors and could take as long as 30 days to complete.

9. CONNECTION

Once you’ve passed the inspection, your utility company will be notified and PTO (permission to operate) will be requested. It could take 2-4 weeks to receive this approval, but once but once it’s complete, the utility company will install the new required electric meter and your solar energy system will now be connected to the grid!

10. POWER ON

A representative from your installation team will turn on your system and both financial and environmental savings can begin!

At Solar150, our job doesn’t end when your system is installed and powered on. Please contact us with any questions, concerns or issues for the life of your system and beyond.
